Online employment marketplace is growing, including in the Southeast Asia. Among the most popular are Jobstreet and Glints. In Indonesia, no data shows how many job applicants have been exposed with such apps when looking for a job. Nevertheless, the growing of such apps indicates that a lot of people increasingly rely on their services. I attempted to map the issues such apps produced on Instagram, an important channel for them to reach a global market. Here is what they talked about.
Interview, company, internship, job, and experience are the top five topics they posted on Instagram. When I presented this result on the workshop to young researchers working on this topic, one participant reflected her own experience of getting a job by using the services. The process was though, not as easy as obtaining information and then applied for a job as instructed. Some agreements were needed to be discussed in the first place since job applicants are seen as their product.
